Who Are We?

We are Sea Kayakers who live in or near Chicago, Illinois. We love the sport and we thrive on teaching. We want to share our great times with you.

We are not a big business. We are a few folks endeavoring to give you the best possible experience. Some of us offer private instruction, but we are also teach classes at some of the area Kayaking Businesses. We aren't trying to corner the market. We openly refer you to others when we believe they can better serve you. Our focus isn't money. We charge fairly for top quality, but our real reward is sharing your pleasure and watching you expand your horizons.

Names and Faces

John Martin

He pretty much provides the majority of the content and answers most of the technical inquires. Someday he hopes that will change. :-) The resources from which information is drawn for this site goes far beyond one person. John paddles with some of the best in the field and regularly probes their minds for information that can be provided to you. Many have contributed to this site either directly or indirectly, far too many to list and most don't even desire credit. Perhaps someday some faces will get posted here if demand becomes evident. :-)

Our History

December 9, 2004 - First registration received from a visitor. He gets first spot on registration list and great odds, at this point, of winning a prize. :-)

December 2, 2004 - First email received from visitor to web site! Exciting! She asks exactly who "we" are, prompting addition of this history and refinement of some content on this page. Thanks, Jamie! :-)

November 29, 2004 - Web space is purchased, the appropriate configurations performed, and the web site starts taking rudimentary shape.

November 25, 2004 - John finally acts and does the domain name registration. A seed is planted.

Summer 2004 - Throughout the season as we paddled together, discussion turned to providing resources and contact points for Chicago area paddlers seeking to improve their skills or add to their adventures. Ideas were tossed around.

Spring 2005 - Not much happened over the winter since the sole web site designer was busy. However conversations on trips have led to some great plans. Stay tuned. :-)
